According to the first post he got pissed of while they were taking pictures as they gave him a standing ovation at the end of the show..... that's a bit rich.... fair enough if it was in the middle of a tune, but doesn't sound like he was.

Carlo has lost sight of the integrity of his festival anyway. well, I was at this festival, I didn't see Jarrett but saw Ornette Coleman, Sly and the Family Stone and some of the groups on the free stage. I have nothing to compare it to as it was my first time there, but I found what I saw, well, kinda lame. Ornette was great to see as I have loved his music for a long time, but, but, ahh, (is there a nice way to say that I would have loved to have seen him 20 years earlier because now he sounds kinda, well, old?!). It was on a big outdoor stage and had a pretty bad sound unfortunately, granted it's a band with 3 bass players, however it wasn't anywhere near loud enough and the mix was strange, however I still enjoyed the gig and the band played well. The second night started with the an opening act called Soloman Burke. What can I say? except for just plain really bad, terrible studio Italian pick up band, they played way too long and nothing but bad funky covers of Wilson Picket, James Brown etc... And Sly? ah, well, it should just be called "The family stone" as Sly was nearly dead. The band started the gig and played for at least 20 mins before Sly was kinda guided on stage and sat down behind a keyboard that he didn't even play. He was on stage for a grand total of 3 songs (15 or so minutes max), and sang one or two songs, then it was just the band. Unfortunately Sly seemed to be really sick(?), old(?), incapable of even playing. And to top a great concert at the end of the gig one of singers screamed: 'THANK YOU ROME!!!!' ahhh, perugia!

Bit surprised about Solomon Burke playing with a bad pickup band ; I saw him here maybe 3 or 4 years back, he put on a great show, had his own band, about 12 or 13 of 'em.

yeah, I'm pretty sure they were local guys with very little rehursal, because they couldn't have played that music so badly otherwise, however I think he had his singers with him.

Maybe because (if they were the same ones I saw) they were his son & daughter.

Yeah, that was part of his schtick ; did he spend the show seated on a throne ?
