I have to go to Amsterdam and The Hague next week so does anyone know any decent jazz clubs there? Not that I'm fussy but I want really good music, no smoke, and not much talking during the music.

decent jazz clubs there . . not that I'm fussy but I want really good music, no smoke, and not much talking during the music. When I play a club I want what Vicki wants (except NO audible talking during the music otherwise I can't play ruminative solo piano intros, PLUS I want good food and coffee and groupies lined up in the break.

Amen to that you guys, you can't beat an attentive audience, that's my aim when I attend a concert. I still can't work out why people go to a concert and want to catch up with friends by talking through the music. One of the most ignorant occasions I witnessed was this guy at the Basement, sitting in the front table was smoking a cigar, the smoke wafting straight up to the singer Mark Murphy. It wasn't long before Mark spoke to him. Mark Isaacs those Bucharest guides seem to have really affected you, ie (groupies lined up in the break). On another tangent Judy is so not into computers it was quite amusing when her daughter Sally showed her your web site, she couldn't get enough. Hoping to catch your June performance at the Sound Lounge. John, Vicki & Judy.

Hey Belinda, where in the world are you now? Eldee is a blast is he not? Such a sweet guy with a wealth of experience right at the crucible, he seemed to love what I do. And Randy Cannon!....seriously the best unknown jazz pianist in the world. Little jazz haven, there in Bangkok.

Hi Vicki,
Geoff Hughes studied there for a while - but I woulld think that Steve Mags would have a good idea having played there a fair bit.

The power of the written word! Got a call from a handsome Dutch man who rang me with news of the Bimhuis. Says he never posts but I don't know about that. :-) Thanks BM and RB.

Belinda,
I heard Randy's trio for the Sheraton Saturday arv High Tea on May 21. It was actually close to the most heavenly experience I have had while not on stage (or in the bedroom). The combination of that magnificent high tea, beautiful Living Room, and Randy's trio (lovely guys) doing all ballads and bossas with that beautiful touch of his.
Yes! Yes! Oh God yes!
