If you pay tribute to them, who will pay tribute to you? Or are you looking for a record contract with ABC Jazz?
(Have given up drinking for Lent.)

I'm doing a tribute to the tribute Dave Douglas did to Wayne, then I might do one to the one he did to miles, then Booker,,,,,,
Actually, haven't a lot of 'heavyweights' done Miles tributes? Lovano, Sco etc?
It's a good thing to do if you need to put out a record and can't think of something of your own. Oh, it'll probably sell more copies too.
Timothystevens my dear mate, maybe you should do a tribute to Tony,,,,, Gould that is, then you'll go down on history, and no, that's not a typo.

Considering all the responses.....I'm feeling like a 'controversial artist"....cool! Next tribute will be Chet baker......then Chuck Mangione and to top it all off, Mariah Carey. Come check it out. Tim....are you available for the latter?

Wow, I haven't been to this forum in months, and then I noticed this post. What a bunch of infintile responses. If Cam wants to play mary had a little lamb ,it is his right to do so. I thought improvised music was about self expression of the artist, the artist being true to there vision. Should Cam stop doing that and start playing music he doesn't like just to keep a couple of bitter, rude "JAZZ" or "IMPROVISED MUSIC" artists happy? Do you ever consider that what you might say might actually be hurtful to a fellow musician who is trying to live out his small career in a small scene? Am sick of this rudeness hiding behind a veil of wisecracks or supposed intellect. Shame on the lot of you....

Oh for fuck's sake, Cam can take a joke. He's an intellgent guy, and a great player, I think we safely assume he didn't get offended or stop playing the trumpet over a few comments on an Australian Jazz Forum.
Don't you think calling what he does a 'small career in a small scene' perhaps more hurtful than a couple of harmless gags? Especially as you described him as 'trying to live' said career? Last I heard he was living it just fine and playing wonderfully.
