I think, wins the award for the most boring jazz festival program of an australian jazz festival ever?
deni hines? kurt elling? tomas stanko? yvette fucking johansson? give me a god damn break.
I will be getting a free ticket, but i promise you i will not be attending a single performance. At least if i stay home and watch home and away i won't have to pay for a cab home.
bollocks.

I don't think that is entirely fair - there are some gigs worth going to featuring locals like Jamie Oehlers and Grabowsky and Michelle Nicolle and I would happily take a free ticket to the Stanko gig if you want to pass it on.

I'll happily sit through Tord, thank you very much. I guess it is each to their own. His gigs at Wangaratta were good, although I was disappointed with the Melbourne gig a few years ago.

I with you totally except for Tomasz Stanko, he's not my favourite trumpet player in the world but he's and been playing his way for years and I respect him. You're right though, waaaaaaaaay too many singers and dumb colaborations like Deni Hines and James Morrison. Wow. That will be inspiring. I'm going to see Roy Hargrove/Cindy Blackman which has cost me a pretty penny and I'm not even that excited about it as it's in Hamer Hall which sounds like poo for jazz. And I'm surprised the Monash Uni Sackbutt Orchestra isn't playing. Cindy I'd love to see live but I'm too stingy to spend that much on one gig at the moment.

Stanko's fucking awesome But his best albums aren't the ones he's currently well known with the Polish trio Check out Leosia with Bobo Stenson and Tony Oxley... sublime album Or From the Green Hill with John Surman
Roy Hargrove and Cindy Blackman... could be OK but I have my doubts James Morrison and Deni Hines... what the fuck is Albare thinking (OK that's an oxymoronic question)

Roy Hargrove is no longer advertised? Looks like he has pulled the pin, not sure who else? Was that guy Frank Gamberi ( ??) supposed to come too?

From what I understand, Charlie Hunter withdrew for health reasons ; Roberta Gambarini, Roy Hargrove & Bobby Jones Gospel Choir were cancelled due to low advance ticket sales. Kate Ceberano has been added to the program, James Morrison is doing a show at Crown (rather than Hamer Hall) with a new band, without Deni Hines.
