Hi all, just thought I'd let you all know that I beat Adrian Jackson at golf today, ah, it's nice to know a muso (2 actually, on ya alimcg) can get one up on an Artistic Director! Oh and aj, no cracks about fellowship money hard at work!! (I'm going to enjoy it while I can)

Jeez, couldn't wait to boast about it, could you?! You don't see me crowing if I happen to beat someone like Jamie Oehlers or Paul Williamson, do you? I have too much class for that!

Yeah, thanks a lot aj - we're never going to hear the end of this now ya know?! It's just going to encourage him... I guess the two of us should get together and work on our sledging tactics while he's away.

If you Guys are going to bang on about Golf I think it is only fair that Kenny come back full time so we can renew our recipe exchanges,

So tomorrow, Bennie's mum is coming around for Mother's Day dinner:

Kenny and Bennie's Blackeyed Peas, Italian style (as opposed to cajun style, coz I've gots Italian snags in the freezer)

*Soak 2 cups black eyed peas when I get home tonight

*Olive oil, heaps, in my you-beaut old iron pot on medium high flame.

*Brown sausage meat from Italian snags. Remove to bowl.

*Put in more olive oil.

*Throw in chopped garlics, carrots, celery, onion. Let 'em wilt.

*Throw in meat and black eyed peas.

*Cooks for five mins or so.

*Pour in chicken stock (also from K&M's freezer) until the solids are covered by an inch or so. Water will do if you haven't stock any gots.

*Bring to boil, lower heat and wait 'til done - should take about 1 1/2 hours to be really done good.

*While waiting: Chop 1 red onion and marinate in lemon juice or red wine vinegar.

*Cook rice.

*Chop parsley, stir into stew.

*Serve stew over long grain white rice and top with red onion salad.

*Ta da!

I'm no expert but this recipe will be even better if you defrost the sausages and the stock first.

Yes, I'll probably do just that for this recipe. 'Tho usually Bennie and I like our chicken stock frozen on sticks for sunny days. Chook icy poles, baby!

I saw Jim Black with Chris Speed and Helmar Jenson (guit) at the A Trane in Berlin last night, lots of government funding, what a good gig. That Jim is so hot right now! Saw Dave Binney in Dublin Monday with Brian Blade, Craig Taborn and Scott Colley, great rhythm section but what a lame gig, eat your heart out Kenny G, even the Blade couldn't save this one! Craig did play some nice stuff too, interesting player.
