Regarding this thread, I have noticed a major shift here on OJF, the very nasty stuff on the forum from a few years back has virtually disappeared now, in the main we're having serious debates or just being silly. This is good, yah?
I was listening to Louis Armstrong this morning, I don't know a lot of his work yet, I just know he was really famous and smiled a lot in movies. His music is quite amazing, what a ground breaker. You can hear so many of the musicians who followed in his phrasing. Speaking of brass, Gianni Marinucci last night at the Big House was a real treat, thanks mate.
I love jazz so much, it keeps me sane in times like this horrible horrible Sudan crisis.

So what Armstrong have you been listening to? I like the hot 5s/7s and the subsequent big band stuff best, I guess. The session with Ellington is pretty cool, too. And I love the live, hilarious duet with Bing Crosby on Gone Fishin'. Cracks me up big time. What nasty stuff are talkin' about, you stupid git?

Jealous ? Nah, I just enjoy someone else copping flak for criticising an album that's popular, which 'proves' you're elitist.............I thought critics were supposed to warn punters if an album is crap !

Yeah, well crap is certainly an appropriate word.
Actually, the only grief I got was in-office.
I seem totally incapable of generating the sort of hate mail Pete Best gets for his brutal appraisals of Cliff Richard, Phil Collins and the like.

Yeah, that's cos Pete forgets (or ignores) that you're not supposed to speak ill of the dead.
(Which is the most rational explanation for how Cliff & Phil sound).

Val, you must be hanging out for Wangaratta this year, as we are. We live out in the sticks and last week I was out ploughing the back '40 and a rock fell from the sky, it was wrapped in paper. The paper read that two of the internationals at Wangaratta were Dave Liebman and the Tord Gustavsen trio. The paddock was near the Hume Highway and the pigeon that dropped the rock was loosely following the highway. (Maybe AJ sending press to Sydney). Don't know how accurate this info is, so please AJ put us out of our misery.

I know more musicians who are NOT performing at Wangaratta this year so far, as they are not afraid to talk yet . According to Adrian, he said we would know by tomorrow so hold your breaths and all shall be revealed.
Val who are you, how did you get to this forum?
