yahooooooooo - the Assumptions Trio are coming to Wollongong, have only caught them once and that was the brilliant gig at Wang a couple of years back, it was, I think, 11am on a Sunday morning in the Playhouse. We were just recovering from the night before and what a potent reviver it was. Who says jazz is late night stuff? Anyway the Wollongong gig will be at Cafe du Auditorium, Glennifer Brae, adjacent to the Botanic Gardens on Thursday August 18 at 7pm. Its a presentation by the Illawarra Improvised Music Association and the Wollongong Conservatorium. The Con has a very healthy jazz studies course running with some fine young talent emerging after only a short time. Touring bands, if you are heading to Sydney and could fit in another gig and do a class with the students why not give Director of Jazz Studies Eric Dunan a call. email to:ericd@uow.edu.au or phone 02 42 281122. Its been a very fruitful year already with recent gigs including the Bernie McGann quartet, a double bill featuring the Carl Dewhurst quartet and the Mark Levine Trio (Eric Dunan was a collegue from his San Francisco days with Mark). Just recently a great night of original music with the Alister Spence trio and a host of conservatorium bands. Gives you an idea of the bands now coming to the 'Gong.

I Heard Will doesn't like the sound of Jules' soprano playing. It makes him violently ill. Well, who can blame him? Better just stick with the tenor Jules. That just makes Will violent. Stabby little prick isn't he!? Is Magnusson ever gonna stand up when he plays?

Is Magnusson ever gonna stand up when he plays? You mean like a Real Guitarist?

You'd have to ask the Herald Sun! The Sunday Herald Sun, for which I work, will make sure it gets a mention - as far a I am able these days.
