Sounds great- what a beautiful feel...the bass is a bit high in the mix, but might just be these computer speakers I'm listening to... Looking foward to hearing the rest of the recording!

ohayogozaimus... yes that was me (moody one) mark. hi Alison, welcome to the board! listening as i type. it's still beautiful mark. simple and sophisticated. familiar and wanders off the beaten path. crunchy harmony, tasty. a space for everyone to mesh. i love hearing the bass, not too overly for my ear ... at all. god, please don't turn it down. oh dang, it finished!
I wanted to do a whole Beatles tribute album and had someone interested in supporting me with it here in japan.. we went to the HMV at Shibuya and on display was the American import of a Beatles tribute/ compilation of players. We found 2 more Japanese Beatles tribute albums...love the Beatles i do. yeah yeah yeah.

Alison and Belinda, thanks so much for taking the trouble to share your thoughts and glad you liked it. You would of course understand that feeling - mixed feelings really - of finishing something and thinking "Yeah, I think it is OK!....or....Not?" and so much valuing feedback, esp. from other musicians, I don't get to hang that much "live" with other musos, mostly barely time to rehearse as everyone is so busy, the Net is more and more my hang as is the case with many of us. So thanks again!

If my work computer was capable of playing this, I'd play it in a flash. Looking forward to hearing the album. For me, there have been too many albums featuring contemporary (or thereabouts) pop tunes that I simply don't know - which makes it all a bit meaningless (e.g. Hancock's The New Standard). In this case, I know 'em all but one, so I'll have heaps to bounce off.

Hi Mark, sounds great. Personally "The First Time Ever" is up there for me wih "Moondance" and "Wind beneath my wings" as songs that make me put down my horn at weddings and head for the bar, vowing never to agree to work with the singer that booked me again. However, I look forward to hearing the rest of the tracks. If they cook like "fool" I could be converted. Like the first time I heard Sonny play "Softly". Ben & James sound fantastic. Both sides now is a killer song. Love to hear your trio play Case Of You!

Hey Mark
listening now, have been travelling, without decent speakers, so wanted to wait 'til I got back to Melbourne.
It is GORGEOUS!
Thanks for letting us hear it.
I think you'll sell a lot of these. Well done. You have a hit there.

Hey Julien (is that Julien as in Wilson?) I think "First Time" is a beautiful song, but understand the "hackneyed" factor. I think you'll be at least interested in what I have done with it, very spacious and moody and with loads of reharmonisation and chromatically changed melody notes. The song has a beautiful sentiment and is regardless a classic IMHO. I ADORE "Case of You" though think it needs the lyrics to work properly. Joni has a new version of that on her orchestral album, great arrangements. "I could drink a case of you. and still be on my feet". Brilliant.
I actually think a lot about lyrics when preparing and even recording these tunes.
Vicki - thanks dearest for your words of support!
