jeez, thats a really good call.
missed his gig at wang the year before last, and was the only thing I really regretted about the whole festival... although...
I did see julio and the stevies play last night (or stoolio and the hevies as they are sometimes referred to). so goddamn good.
Doing gigs with steve, you don't ask him what he's been up to... you ask what instrument he's gonna play. Trumpet? When was the last time you played trumpet stevie? ...oh, about a month ago. 40minutes later I'm getting my arse whooped... in terms of high, loud, fast AND tasteful.

i reckon steve's one of the greatest musicians i've ever heard. the band he had with karl hird (another genius) andy baylor al browne and howard cairns... friday nights in port melbourne about 12 years ago... fuck it used to go off.

Hey John! Agree with you, your list has some amazing musicians. Could never, ever write a definitive list of my own because it would change every day or hour. There is no best for me. Although... nah.
Are you guys still coming down in May?
