Morphic Resonance? Sounds like the name of one of the sorts of Pommy rock bands I loathe simply on principle and certainly unheard!

Loathing music you've never heard.
Fine example there, Ken.
Still not attending gigs?

critics get slagged for not attending enough gigs. And they don't have to pay to get in & they always get a seat (ask Jessica) yadda yadda yadda... wouldn't be interesting to really know how many of us have been to Oz jazz gigs that we paid money to go to, in say the past month. No excuses for being a poor musician or student either. i'll start the ball rolling. Only 2. January is a crap example month but lets just see if we can get some honesty in the spirit of positivity happening here?

Only seen two, didn't pay, guilty as charged. I did get really drunk at one though so that must count for something! Of course I didn't pay for my drinks either, shit.

Loathing music you've never heard. Fine example there, Ken. Still not attending gigs? Just kidding. I hear ALL the modern rock claptrap simply through the job of dispensing said albums to our staff. I simply don't take any of it home. Rubbish. All of it. Or at the very least, hopelessly bereft of inspiration and/or originality for someone with a rockin' memory as long as mine. Nah, no gigs. I do have Tim Stevens and Mark Isaacs lined up for interview/rap sessions on The Pearls when I inherit Gerry's Sunday (1-3pm) PBS slot on February 19.

January is really a crappier than usual month for gigs. My birthday is in January and there is never a decent gig on that day. Ever. I've been looking for twenty years now so I am an expert on this!
Even when I was based in London I ended up at Ronnie Scotts listening to way-past-their-use-by-date bands cos nothing else was on. Fist two weeks in January at RS was always for bands who should have retired gracefully decades before.
Ultimately I would like to hire IshIsh for a home performance for a present to myself, but I am saving that one up for an ends-in-Zero-birthday so I can pay them a decent fee.
To get back to the topic of the thread I have only paid to get into 3 Aussie gigs this last month.
This thread is like an AA/NA meeting. Argh!

"I was pure like the snow, but I drifted" Let's hope you don't get too flakey. Hi Vicki Jane, (is this your new moniker for 2006?) happy birthday for January, mine is in Jan too. please invite us to your Ishish birthday party. Gladly kick some money in for the drummer, why not try a rent party type occassion. The month of May would be a good time. J & V.

In your fugging dreams, Cartman. Wearing a beret takes a certain elan, innate style and poise. I have those. You don't. It's not for everyone.

Morphic Resonance? Sounds like a character from a now-daggy '60s SF book.
