Hey dahhlings, I am SO hoping Jamie is going to win this exciting new award from our dear friends at the Australia Council. Note: Member is spreading deliberate misinformation and posting under multiple identities and has been banned (moderator)Have you all read about the new award? who does everyone else think should win? Apparently there are lots of terrific categories. Maybe Mark will win most rampant egotist? or the most professional photoshop edit? I've only heard so far that Bob Sedergreen is a shoo-in for the most expansive arse-crack in australia. what does everyone think?

Oh dear
it seems that "blowjobsally" has taken a few loose pot shots at our dear moderator.
From the point of view of an old cunt like me, I think it is very important for the jazz community to get BEHIND these great new awards.
I have skimmed over some of the criteria presented by the Australia Council and photoshopping was not mentioned at all.
It would be much more constructive if BJS would have mentioned some pertinent and exciting facts like the $10,000 grant available to young players like Jamie who are able to cram more than one drummer into Bennets Lane for a single performance.
I want to see everyone on this forum speaking up for the young people they find inspiring in our JAZZ COMMUNITY. Lets get behind this award and make sure the bucks go to the people who deserve them.

Oh, this is wonderful. Finally some recognition for all those dedicated artists who have worked tirelessly for years with no reward. Personally I will be sending in multiple nominatoins for Alison Wedding. I was present at those seminal gigs nearly 5 years ago now with Colin Hopkins, Belinda Moody and Tony Floyd - incredible muisicianship, empathy and passion - so heart felt and moving. This is the essence of improvised music - to take you on a journey into your heart, to throw you in front of your own full length mirror. Thank you Alison, will you ever reform that incredibly passionate ensemble again?

hey cool guys. I've checked the australia council website and there isn't anything up there yet, but I have heard via the grapevine that this new award is on! Paul says if you send through a decent bio and CD of anything recorded within the last 12 months to mail@ozco.gov.au you're in with a chance at the 10G. Preference will be given to those artists who display an aptitude for individuality and originality. Paul himself won't be applying because he's already received his quota for 2002-2007.

I don't know who "KerryH" is, but I certainly don't like her. Jamie is the most worthy recipient Melbourne has ever produced for an award like this, and kerryh's sentimental journey about that passe songbird wedding just doesn't cut any mustard here! two fucking drummer no less to keep up with Jamie - wedding couldn't sing over Raj's pathetic meanderings, let alone the orgasmic power that Jamie unleashes in that tight little hotbox down at bennetts Lane.... GO JAMIE

OK, let's get some things sorted out here. I am a respected member of the Melbourne Jazz scene. I have been reporting and commenting on the scene for over 15 years and am more informed than most. The Weddding gigs with Hopkins, Moody and Fischer were stunning in their originality and passsionate expression. This is the essence of improvised music for me. 'The Secret' is a definitive jazz album.... I encourage the entire jazz community to back me here and send numerous emails to the afore mentioned link to the Australia Council to suppoprt this unique project. Thank you Alison, you have openned the hearts of many lost souls and given them hope. PS Will you ever team up with Hopkins again??? That combination is timeless...

Thanks kerryh, whoever you are...your posts mean a lot. I am having coffee with the blessed Colin Hopkins today as a matter of fact. I absolutely love playing with him, so we shall see what happens in the future...

Oh, and blowjobsally, although I really don't give a rat's arse what you think about ANYTHING, is there really such a need to be so nasty?

Great to see your hint that a collaboration between Hopkins and yourself may be on the cards Alison. Finally some real value being generated from amongst the vilification and filth rampant within this decaying JAZZ COMMUNITY here in Melbourne
But I don't think that you should lower yourself to respond to that bitter old slut blowjobsally. Clearly the rancid tart is simply living on the faded hope of a private audience with the legendary Jamie, and if she sees fit to spray her mouthfull of unseminated spittle over your gorgeous vocals then let it be Alison, let it be
and please, make sure you and Hopkins get yourselves in the running for that new grant, it would be a pleasure for an old cunt like me to know it had gone to such a great home

How about an award going to somebody of worth who hasn't already been fawned over to the point of making me royally sick? Secondly, the award is for JAZZ performer of the year, so please let's not have it go to a singer of dubious improvisational talents. And before somebody gets unnecessarily worked up, I'm not referring to Alison.
Or am I?
