Yeah! Aye-aye Cap'n Troll Hunter. Maybe he could play his axe with a hook, having lost his paw to a particularly vicious troll.

The problem with Tim's reviews is not their honesty or conflict of interest - it's that they are poorly written. In what seems to be an attempt to appear learned and cerebral, Tim masks simple ideas with very long sentences and pompous vocabulary. He seems to want to tell us more about his own knowledge and thoughtfulness than the actual recording in question. Say what you think Tim but for god's sake do it with clarity, brevity and perhaps even a touch of humility. Welcome to the world of music journalism generally! pfft. If you're genuinely a part of the music - can feel it revolve within you or whatever - you can separate yourself from your friendships. It's like a musical performance anyway - you cant get so overboard that you forget what youre performing or leave your technique behind.. I have to say: having the extra advantage of knowing the muso/s means I am awarded a greater insight into their music, in that they will personally be more enthusiastic about revealing themselves and opening the door to their GrooveLand to me.. If you really dont like the music - dont give it the PR and talk or write about it. Its about you the investigative journalist & academic rather than the prejudiced human anyway.. *shrugs
