Kenny, what kind of food are you cooking while listening to Scott (the north-west's favorite son)?

Is one more worthy than the other? Can you do more than one type of listening at the same time? Or is this just bullshit navel gazing? Hell I dunno. But Mim should try listening hard to something she considers fluff, and then try "not listening" to something she considers heavyweight. She might be surprised.

Kenny, what kind of food are you cooking while listening to Scott (the north-west's favorite son)? I'm very big on dal at the moment. Cheap, healthy and Bennie likes it. Split moong dal with spinach. Red lentils with cabbage stew. Stuff like that.

I just thought that listening to Tinkler might lead to a certain style of food preparation. Red meat and chilli come to mind.

Yeah i hear you. That healthy lentil stuff and Scott's music sounds a bit odd, eh? Nevertheless that's what i'm cooking and that's part of what I'm listening to.

I do listen hard to fluff, I transcribe it for my students. I also completely vague out when listening to innovative stuff, more often than I care to.

Yes it is, Mark! Full Moon. The Moon. The Main Moon. (I haven't got any eyebrows, but I think that only gives me a bit more of an edge.)

In the interests of self promotion another review, better this time.
Scott Tinkler is one of Australia's finest and most respected trumpet players- winner of numerous awards and accolades for his main incarnations as ensemble player. Backwards finds him step out of his usual collaborative and safer state into an improvised solo album.
Recorded in one day, mixed in one day. It present a varied textural and paced collection of improvised pieces. With Tinkler playing against him self, feeding his trumpet though effects peddles, playing though water, adding in improvised percussive detail and other sound matter traces. But primarily this is about Tinklers talented trumpet playing with all the tracks been exciting and effective improvised pieces that never get too bogged down with sound play and just making weird sounds for the sake of it. In all the disk last on near an hour with tracks ranging from three to eight minutes a piece, Tinkler develops and plays with ideas than lets them go, the tracks never out staying there welcome. The mood going from atmospheric to angler to playful, but always rewarding.
A fine snapshot of a very talented musician, which remains entertaining and worthwhile throughout its playing time.
And don't forget my Solo CD launch at the wonderful Fringe Fest next Thurs 26th at Fed Square.
