I'm launching my new CD in Sydney on Thurs June 14. Straight after that I'm keen to be in Melbourne as on the Sunday morning June 17 the MSO chamber players are doing a piece of mine. From there it occurred to me that it'd be cool to try and do a Melbourne launch and get the band down from Sydney if possible (or substitute locally where it's not).
Other than Bennetts is there anywhere else that I could pitch such a thing to? I spoke to Tortoni just now but he has Elana Stone that Fri and Sat night in the big room and doesn't want to run another jazz show next door in competition.

Paris Cat - speak to Serge: 0412586550 Piano isn't flash (yamaha baby grand?), but maybe he'll get it tuned for you or something?
Czech Club - speak to Marketa: 9329 9922 Nice piano in there... room for hire - $100 or so
Cheers, Gideon

Paris Cat is ok but maybe a bit small for a cd launch. Manchester Lane has done a lot to fix the sound (quite good on stage now) but can have a restaurant vibe

Forget Manchester Lane - they stopped having 'jazz' gigs a long time ago.
Mark, I reckon the Czech club is your best bet. Other than that, maybe Transit but I don't what the go is there these days...

Don't bother with Transit.
If anyone has Micheal Tortoni's number, could you please email it to me? I have a co-op gig doming up and I want to ask him about the logistics of recording the gig.
or send me a private message. Cheers!

BMW Edge is ok if you like sounding like you're playing underwater. Nice piano though.
As for Gmail - it rocks, and I don't believe the conspiracy theorists.
