Hi All If you're in Sydney on March 9th come along to the Studio/Opera House to hear Daorum, a collaborative ensemble featuring Korean pansori singer Bae Il Tong, percussionist Kim Dong Won , Simon Barker, Phil Slater, Carl Dewhurst, and Matt McMahon. This concert also features a visual component created by Emma Franz. "Daorum's music breaks new ground" abc.net.au "The music evolved into a sonic prtrait of Korea's hidden character interweaved with a sense of Australia's vast space and jazz pathos from the United States. It created an imaginary place where the music we were listening to was it's utopian anthem." Living Arts Korea "Their forces combined proved to be a remarkable musical interaction. From the beginning of the performance, it clearly had nothing to do with finding a couple of secret Eastern-enriched flavorings for the new age jazz scene" Korea Herald To find out more visit: www.kimnara.com.auwww.sydneyoperahouse.com/whatson/Daorum.aspxto see footage of the band visit: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg9rmUUmglUSimon
