For those that might be interested, I'd like to let you know about this concert that will take place on Saturday April 19 at 10:30pm in the Lennox Theatre, Parramatta Riverside Theatres, Sydney as part of the 2008 Aurora Festival. For those who aren't Sydneysiders it will be a live broadcast direct-to-air on ABC Classic FM on the program New Music Up Late. And audio-on-demand will be available for the rest of April at www.abc.net.au/classic/newmusic/ The concert will feature the world premieres of two recent compositions of mine. The major work on the program is Songs at First Light, a 40-minute piece for jazz piano trio and chamber sextet which will be performed by my trio (with Jono Brown and James Hauptmann), the Greenway String Quartet and wind players. This piece was originally proposed by Paul Grabowsky for a Queensland Music Festival chamber music series that did not eventuate, and is dedicated to him. The other work - to be played by the Greenway String Quartet - is my String Quartet No. 3. Further information is at www.aurorafestival.com.au/markisaacsuplate.html

It's past my bedtime too It is a novel concert title. The ABC program it's going out live on is called "New Music Up Late" so I assume the festival organisers named it that way as linkage to that.

If anyone is interested enough to hear what resulted from this project on Saturday night, it's now audio-on-demand at the ABC website. The programme lasts an hour in total, including a solo piano improv on the end. Go to www.abc.net.au/classic/newmusic/ and select "Saturday 19 April 2008" under "Listen to the latest programs". Low-fi though (32kb/s)
