This is terrible news. A terrific talent (could soar like a Bird) and a wonderfully eccentric - and brilliant - guy.
I have many treasured memories of Tony.
One is being on the Daly-Wilson Big Band tour bus doing northern NSW in 1981. Tony spent each leg of the tour reading out bits of Karl Marx's Das Kapital to anyone who would listen (nobody would).
Will he be missed? In one of his favourite words, "Indubitably!".
See ya mate.

I loved Tony. I miss him. He really helped me through a tough period of my life. If it wasn't for Tony's understanding and nurturing I would have most probably dropped out of the con and become seriously lost. We would talk and he'd really listen to me. He offered wise counsel and gently steered me towards my passions and talents. When I was struggling in a regimented course Tony reassured me that he valued my individuality and creativity over my academic shortcomings.
Tony helped me to identify and cultivate my own voice; a gift only too few teachers could impart.
A memory of Tony I will always cherish is the sight of him hunched over the piano cackling maniacally as I played the most feverishly bent shit I could possibly manage.
Thankyou Tony.
Much love to Joan, Lyn, Tess, Jos and Anita in this difficult time. zxxx
