Radio National saves my life I reckon you can download online too BBC world service has good stuff too. RN Nocturen is a really good radio show and so is the Planet and The Music SHow and Radio Eye is good too. I love radio cos it beats telly anytime speically when you live where I do.

Music in cafes,restaurants/stores is a constant fascination to me.

These days, thankfully, I don't seem to be hearing the same opening strains of Kind Of Blue over and over and over and over and over. And over. Hell, I may even pull it out and play it fer myself.

David Jones in Bourke St often seems to have some cool stuff playing, and not just the usual suspects. Just loud enough to be there without being too strident.

And talking about strident and obnoxious: Blue Train at Southgate.

A mixture of Sky channel racing and Oz v Sri lanka cricket.

Brain grinding gears as I try to dream a headline for the gardening column.

Been tuning in to ABC Clasic FM for the Sydney piano competition. Since I know little about classical pianists I am betting that Tim Stevens will have a better idea of whom is going to win than I. I liked the Latvian woman, but it may have just been what she chose that moved me so much. Is it over yet?

Hmmm.. you are right Tim, but I think that I may never have heard some of those musicians if they hadn't come to Sydney, but so what if I hadn't? There is plenty of good stuff here.

At the same time I loathe the five star critic thing, the whole concept of judging art is really quite a silly concept. Jazz Olympics anyone?

Sorry to those judges on the Bells etc. no disrespect intended. Just a promoiotnal device, we know.
