Just came in from a blow at a gig in Pitt Street. Sydney with Paul Joseph (drums) who organises it and Mike Nock and Ben Waples.
So great to hear Ben and Mike again. Thank you for organising it Paul.
Strange to hear jazz in an environment where most people are talking. Yuck, hard to block out the chatter. Did Chopin have to play over people and their mobile phones? Well probably everyone talked over him when they were drunk too. Loads of drummers, no other musicians got up. Chickens.
Ko Omura, Sydney based Japan US background drummer sounded good to us. But the jazz soldiers brigade hearts belong to Mike and Ben tonight.
