Hi All Kimnara records has a new release out this week, Daorum, featuring pansori artist Bae Il Dong, Carl Dewhurst, Kim Dong Won, Matt McMahon, Phil Slater, and I. For more information about Daorum visit: www.kimnara.com.auThe group was formed after an amazing trip I made throughout Korea in 2005. The journey was documented by Emma Franz and the resulting film, Intangible Asset Number 82, is being released internationally this year. Here's a link to the film's trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeCiaVhdszA see ya Simon Barker

Looking forward to seeing the film - a friend of Emma's told me about her work on this project back in 2005 - looks like it'll be well worth the wait.

Been listening to this, I second jazzpolicia!
Not often that inter cultural collaborations get this deep in my opinion. Simon particularly has taken on the Korean tradition with respect and a deep commitment to come up with something that is so refreshingly creative and intelligent. I particularly love the fact that all the musicians are on the same page so to speak but the individuality of each player is still so evident. 10 stars.
