Great to see these musician-driven labels like downstream and kimnara. I don't think any of us have delusions of becoming rich off CD sales, but even the support of a small label can be great compared to the hard grind of going it alone with an independent release.
Keep it going Ronny.

In an effort to keep more posts here on OJF positive than negative I'm going just to say Hooray for jazz heroes like Ronny Ferella and move this entirely positive thread back to the top.

Half Bent, now Downstream and probably plenty of other projects that I don't know about - Ronny, you do some truly wonderful things for the scene and for the music.
Labels run by musicians are a great idea. As AliMcG says, I'm sure there are no delusions of amassing an enormous fortune from selling CDs (would be nice though!), but it's a excellent way of supporting the music and giving musos a chance to be heard.
I've been looking into smaller labels here in France - looks like there are a shit-tonne of them. There's even a bi-annual 'jazz directory' that lists agents, promoters, venues, labels, media contacts, musicians, studios etc etc....the thing is huge and a marvellous resource. Something like this would be great for Oz - especially for touring as there are some fantastic venues off the beaten track (Tilba Tilba!!).
More power to you, Mr. Ferella.

I lied, but also told the truth.
