Calling all artists… Big West invites artists living or working in the west to send in an expression of interest to the Festival Director for projects to be considered for its forthcoming 2009 festival. Taking the central theme of Home is Where the Art is… Big West is looking for projects that take place in non-traditional spaces and that speak to this central theme. It may be a performance, exhibition, multimedia work or something that defies classification. For an application form, please visit www.bigwest.com.au/artist_info.htm. If you would like to speak with Festival Director Karen Hadfield prior to submitting your EOI please call 9689 4880 or email karen@bigwest.com.au. Applications close Friday 31 July 2009. Peter Knight where are you?

Peter Knight where are you? He's probably eating sushi or sashimi at a late-night saki bar ... with MSG, but probably no Charlie. But I'm sure he'll be back (from Japan and Korea) in time to think of something.

Oh, artists are so demanding, although good music is something that often defies classification,,,

What about if we just want to make good music? I have an inkling that you mightn't be really successful when it comes to grant applications. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe if grant applications had more to do with music making and less to do with fashion I might be.

Grant applications are successful if they are good grant applications, nothing to do with content, same as music really, same same but different. The sooner we realise that the better off we are, at grant applications, not music,,,,,
