German made instrument by unknown master maker circa 1900.
$12,000 (O.N.O) Valued at $17,500, last valuation 30/5/2008, letter of Authenticity and Valuation sightable.
The instrument is built on a Gamba model from solid timbers with a carved arched back. The back and ribs are of moderately figured maple, the head of similar wood. The two piece belly is of medium growth pine. The instrument features external linings and is covered in a dark red/brown colour on an amber ground. The machine heads are double plates and of brass, original to the instrument. Instrument has had a new Bass bar fitted only 5 months ago.
