It's shameless self-promotion, but my excuse is that album reviews and top 10 lists such as these (see link) from Sunday Herald Sun reviewers, help musicians promote their music and music venues get bums on seats.
Buried in the text is my list of the year's top jazz albums. The order of the 10 is not too significant, and some, such as Michael Story Trio's So You Want More just missed the cut. Obviously it is a matter of taste, but comments are welcome.
I don't generally review overseas jazz unless there is a local connection. The album reviews don't usually go online (which is pretty stupid, but I'm working on it), but I am gradually posting the backlog of jazz reviews on ausjazz.net
