How did the Brisbane Jazz festival at the Powerhouse go?

From what I can gather (I wasn't able to attend any gigs except the one I played in):
My collaboration with Sachal Vasandani went really well, I put some lyrics to one of the Resurgence Band melodies for him to sing. His own material was very interesting and Ben Waples and Tim Firth played very well in the band with me. He went on to do two successful gigs in Perth with local players. Disappointing other presenters in Australia didn't pick up on this project (instigated by the Powerhouse), he's an excellent and very musical singer.
Zac Hurren did a great trio gig that Evan Mannel came up for. Nat Bartsch came up from Melbourne and collaborated with Brisbane players Helen Russel and Paul Hudson. Louise Denson - who heads Jazz Studies at Brisbane Con - led her local quintet.
There was very strong interest in the Saturday matinee of James Muller Quartet. There could have been more interest in Sara Serpa (collaborating with Aaron Choulai et al) but Mulatu drew very well and Kurt Elling a near full house and by all accounts all fantastic shows.
The Powerhouse as always did a terrific job putting it all together.
Any Brisbane people here to comment?

We enjoyed Kurt Elling on the Saturday night! Laurence Hobgood is a fantastic arranger, and the band played with real American intensity which was good to see!
It was also good to see Ingrid James with the Louise Denson group. Their new latin tunes are fantastic - just a shame about the sound. The piano was very down in the mix.
Would have loved to see some more local Brisbane acts included in the festival, such as Hannah Macklin, Chris Poulsen Trio, Kerbside Collection, Miguel, Mute Canary etc...

I'd like to clarify that in the last few years I haven't been the artistic director or curator, only a consultant so don't make unilateral decisions but only provide some advice and suggestions to the producer. The difficultly with more Brisbane artists was this year we didn't have the smaller Visy theatre, only the main hall the Powerhouse Theatre and the Turbine Platform where it has been traditional to provide a limited number of gigs free to the public before and after the main shows. With the Powerhouse Theatre seating 550, it tends to work for internationals or national acts of very high prominence like the James Muller Quartet this year. To include more Brisbane artists they'd need to deploy the medium-sized venue, not always possible. Fortunately Jazz Queensland run the Valley Jazz Festival in Brisbane every two years and this includes many more Brisbane artists. The Powerhouse also presents a monthly series of Brisbane artists on the Turbine Platform in conjunction with Jazz Queensland. We presented Mute Canary last year and Hannah Macklin previously too I think. We've also had West End Composers Collective and many other excellent Brisbane artists along the way. But it can be hard to balance international, national and local in Brisbane.
