Adrian, I must congratulate you on an amazing festival once again! Highlights for me included Barre Phillips both solo and with Mike Nock, Howard Cairns Quintet in a swinging set, Sandy Evans band and the absolutley amazing triumph of a performance by Barney McAll on Sunday night with Gian Slater's choir which had to be seen to be believed. It's scope and sound reminded me a little of Carla Bley's Escalators over the hill. It was so good and so surprising.
Every year I go the festival and it never disappoints. The festival staff especially the venue staff were very good this year and it all seemed to run like clockwork although the drop in numbers(?) may have helped. Thanks & congratualtions Adrian and to everyone involved. Long may it continue.

Thanks Jec. I know ticket sales were up this year in $ terms, so doubt that numbers were down.....I think maybe the numbers were more evenly spread around the venues.

I was delighted to have the opportunity to be there with the Resurgence Band and participate in such a well run festival. We had a really good set, a kind of reunion as we had not played together for four months and I hadn't played in public for that long (been writing a cello concerto). Sandy Evans' suite was terrific to hear, the unison between her soprano and Phil Slater's trumpet a wonderful feat of ensemble. And I was very happy to see our drummer Tim Firth win the National Jazz Awards.
