EDDIE PALMIERI, 9 Time Grammy Award Winner, is undoubtedly the world's most exciting and renowned Latin pianist and leader of both Latin Jazz and Salsa Orchestras. For the first time ever he shall be touring Australia to celebrate his 50th Anniversary of performing and recording with his Afro-Carribean Jazz group, The Eddie Palmieri Latin Jazz Sextet feat. (Grammy Award Winning) Brian Lynch (trumpet) and Jose Claussell (timbales) among others.
Regarded as "the Sun of Latin music", Eddie is a groundbreaking composer and arranger and his style has consistently challenged the boundaries of both Salsa and Latin Jazz. With 36 Albums recorded to date. His last two albums "Simpatico" in 2007 and "Listen Here" is 2006 both picked up Grammy Awards, as well as his recording with Tito Puente in 2000 "Obra Maestra/Masterpiece" picking up both a Grammy and a Latin Grammy.
Eddie Palmieri is the man responsible for the 1970 album "Harlem River Drive", the first recording ever to merge black and latin styles resulting in a free-form sound that encompassed elements of salsa, funk, soul and jazz. In short the man is a musical legend. He has consistently sourced only the best musicians, which also resulted in him being invited to work with Little Louie Vega to record "Nuyorican Soul" in 1997, a huge hit with dancers and dj's in the House and underground music scene.
And much much more ....
