A vote of thanks to Adrian for another fantastic Wangaratta Festival - what I saw was mostly splendid and even the things you don't dig are always worth checking out. This festival is one of the most valuable things we have.

Couldn't agree more Tim. What a great festival once again. I enjoyed so much fantastic music, it is truly the highlight of my year.
Thank you Thank you THANK YOU to all the volunteers, the people of Wangaratta, the artists and the staff. Well done!
I came home with a stack of new Aussie CDs, which I can't really afford but I don't care! Currently listening to Tim Wilson trio which has some of the greatest dance music I have heard in ages.
So many great gigs and so many good drummers - even excluding the competition. How can one small country produce so many great musicians?
I could wish it would never end but then I would have nothing to look forward to.
To: John and Vicki sorry I was sleeping when you came to say goodbye! Please come to Melbourne and stay within the next six months.
I'm still smiling at the thought of all that great great music.
cheers everyone and yes TS - AJ does rock!

Yes, after missing last year it was a thrill and a half to return to Wang. It was hot. For anyone interested, I posted a three-part review at AAJ thanks to the auspices of festival publicist Michelle Buxton and her notebook. It can be found here: forums.allaboutjazz.com/showthread.php?t=6702Also: The Australian Jazz Korner thread - forums.allaboutjazz.com/showthread.php?p=80838#post80838 - has witnessed a recent burst of activity, with Shrdlu (who posts mainly at organissimo but stumbled on the oz thread when his preferred forum was down) posting about his days of living in Adelaide between 1954 and 1972. Fascinating!

A few personal highlights, although I missed far too many things I would have loved to have seen: Triosk Sandy Evans trio Tony Gorman sumptuous solo clarinet and storytelling! Adam Simmons Toy Band Kynan Robinson/Erik Griswold's Electricians Ren Walters Band
Personally I couldn't come at Liebman, but then I never could...
