Did anyone read Richard Hinds' story in The Age on Wednesday ? Having hacked his way around Moonah Links, he says it could only be described as a good course if the members were "Third World despots, child molesters, jazz musicians and anyone else who deserved such ritual humiliation".
Since when did jazz musicians find their way onto the social ladder on a lower rung than hack journos ?
(Present company excepted, Kenny !)

Yeah, well where I come from hackdom is a lofty height to which many aspire and few attain. The Age? Hack journos? Sheesh, still burns you're not still pushing a pen for them, eh?

AJ: OK, let's keep it golfing. Who is the most famous jazz personage you've played - and who won and by how much? Who did you flog by the biggest margin? Who flogged you the most? The public demands answers!

The most famous ? Probably Ray Brown (though Ted Vining might beg to differ !)
Other jazz celebs I've seen on the course include Paul Williamson, Jamie Oehlers, Mike Jordan, Dave Beck, Wilbur Wilde & Lawrence Hobgood.
Paul & Jamie are single-figure handicappers (ie, they're pretty damn good). Therefore, I have no recollection of the scores from any of our games.........except for a day at Albert Park in December, when I managed to pip a certain international-award-winning saxophonist by 3 strokes. He's keen for a re-match, but I might quit while I'm ahead !
