AUSMUSIC Forum- 98 hours of uninterrupted jazz - World Record Attempt

Mary Delahunty MP, Minister for the Arts will join some of Melbourne’s most respected jazz musicians on Monday, 16th May in the launch of an unprecedented five days of 24-hour continuous jazz music at the Victorian Arts Centre.
Heading for the record books, this exciting event will feature performances by some of Australia’s top musicians including guest appearances by Scott Tinkler, Steve Sedergreen, Monique Di Mattina, Peter Petrucci, Darryn Farrugia, Chris Hale, Rob Vincs, Craig Fermanis, as well as VCA, Monash University and local Melbourne musicians.
Event organiser, musician Denny Petrie says that “The Tent” is unique to Melbourne and a wonderful opportunity to create exposure for many of the State’s young up and coming jazz talents.
“The aim for this project is to challenge and unite Melbourne’s jazz players through a world record attempt for the longest uninterrupted jazz session.”<br>
“I believe that Melbourne jazz players hold a very unique sound and this event gives an opportunity to showcase our wealth of talent and to encourage respect from the public,” Denny said.
The schedule of performers includes:
Monday - Chris Hale, Monique Di Mattina, Darryn Farrugia, Sam Keevers, Rodrigo Aravena, Gary Costello, Marcello Salvo, Felipe Corenjo
Tuesday - Peter Petrucci, Ben Hendry, Craig Fermanis, Gary Costello, Lee Barker, Luke Howard
Wednesday - Phil Bywater, Harry Shaw Reynolds, Monty McKenzie, Gideon Brazil, San Lazaro, Matt Amy’s Big Band
Thursday – Rob Vincs, Greg Stone, Rory Clark, Eric Budd Quintet, Jonathon Skovron, Tom Morgan, Ben Hendry, Lachlan MacLean
Friday - Ronny Ferella, Jamie Barlow, Ben Morrison, Ambergris.
“The Tent” is sponsored by the Ausmusic Forum, a nine day promotion of Australian music from the 14-22nd May at the Victorian Arts Centre. The Forum includes performances, workshops and seminars, covering diverse subjects including composition, music business and music technology across all music styles. So far, around 5,000 attendees are booked to participate in performances and workshops.
