hey AJ, I think you are confused as to the identity of AliMcG. He wasn't at the Monk night, I was... and one other fairly inebriated ex Canberra Colleague of mine - but no Ali. Buyakasha! Incidentally, ARE you that Wangaratta guy? You're right, I am confused ! Does that guy even look a bit like Ali ? Or am I getting early Alzheimer's ?

doesn't look anything like him. Ali looks like me. All you whiteys look the same anyway.
It's easy to tell the difference between Ali and JohnY, one of them is drunk, and the other isn't.

Of course. I'm glad you are aware they have to ask the Captain's permission before dealing with Jazz paparazzi like yourself.

Agree. That Street Survivor album is a killer. After that, no fault of the band's, they got lumbered with lotsa redneck baggage. But I was always more of an Allman man anyhow - more of a loping, impro, big-eared, racially open point of view.
Man o man, the south is pushing my audio buttons is all sorts of profound and comprehensive ways these days from the 1890s to the present and across country n blues n jazz n cajun n soul n R&B n western swing n greasy heaven.
It's easy to forget that quite a few characters still around these days and considered - with good cause - as walkin' talkin' cliched cartoons actually produced some very fine music when Dixie Rock wasn't a term of abuse, full of jazzy tinges and a real feel for soul, blues, country.
Charlie Daniels is the main culprit is that regard, but his first half dozen or so albums - all pre The Devil Went Down To Georgia - contain some beautiful stuff, with that double drummer thing going on. others still lumbering around include Wet Willie, Marshall Tucker, Skynyrd, Grinderswitch, Allmans.

Now, now, Cap. We both know I'm much more attractive I don't know whether I should be insulted by aj's confusion or not. aj, you can always tell me and JohnY apart - my swing is a lot better, and my short game less erratic.

I'd say the easiest way to tell AliMcG and JohnY apart is that Ali's short ARM is less erratic.

Scott Tinkler solo album, "Backwards". It's an amazing recording: incredibly detailed, forceful at times but also extremely delicate. A major contribution to the instrument.
