This joint - on top of the Transport Hotel @ Federation Square - is providing yet another option in terms of gig-going in Melbourne. I believe there will be a $5 charge. And don't expect a B.Lane, studious kinda vibe. It's a bar first and foremost.
Here's the list they've just emailed me:
Thursday 30th June – Andy Cowan 9pm
Friday 1st July – The Mark Fitzgibbon Trio 8.00pm Allan Browne’s Australian Jazz Band 11.30pm
Saturday 2nd July – The Ross Irwin Quartet 8.00pm Virus 11.30pm
Friday 8th July – The Mark Fitzgibbon trio 8.00pm The Pearly Shells – 11.30pm
Saturday 9th July - The Ross Irwin Quartet 8.00pm Virus 11.30pm
Friday 15th July – The Ross Irwin Quartet 8.00pm The Shuffle Club 11.30pm
Saturday 16th July - The Mark Fitzgibbon Trio 8.00pm Virus 11.30pm
Friday 22nd July – TBC 8pm possibly Oehlers & Keevers The Shuffle Club 11.30pm
Saturday 23rd July The Mark Fitzgibbon Trio 8pm The Paul Williamson Trio 11.30pm
Friday 29th July The Paul Williamson Trio 8pm The Shuffle Club 11.30pm

I checked out this place about a month ago- before it opened...looks REALLY nice and could be a great venue...they have a beautiful piano ( I believe a Yamaha C4) and hopefully by now they have a nice sound system set up... has anyone actually been there and heard any music yet? How's the vibe now that it's up and running???

I heard Joe Chindamo on a Thursday about a month ago, and then Virus the following Saturday. Joe liked the piano, and I believe the house drum kit is pretty good, too.
With Virus, there seemed to be a nice balance between people listening and socialising, with the volume just about right.
It's a very clubby, wood 'n' leather sort of thing - in stark contrast to the concrete-and-steel vibe of the rest of the building.
Interesting snack menu sorta like the Supper Club.
Expensive drinks.
I like it.
