Lynne Arriale Trio are coming to Perth in Feb for the 2006 Perth International Arts Festival. See www.lynnearriale.com. Anyone have any ideas who might be able to present the band in Melbourne?

I guess Michael Tortoni will take a risk & put them on..........I recall reading in The Age last May ('Melbourne's Jazz Tsar') that he's a real risk-taker who makes things happen.

yeah, Michael T is one of the most "risky" programmers around! just ask the host of young, original, non-standards-non-suit wearing-non cutesy- jazz musicians around... they'll tell ya!

OK, nice round of OJF classic Melburnian sardonic cynicism. Any more helpful advice?

Not all us Melbourne people are so unhelpful or negative I hope. No naughty me was just stirring the pot. Plenty of cynics here in Sydney too. Thanks Vicki. Actually we haven't got a word for stereotyping inhabitants of a particular city. Metropolism? Mea culpa. Don't worry, some of my best friends live in Melbourne....

I know you weren't being mean about Melbourne Mark, I am just ashamed of the rudeness of my fellow city dwellers. It is interesting that Michael gets bagged I think, more than anyone else here at OJF - but there are plenty of people in the jazz scene who really deserve bagging but never get a mention. Wonder why that is?

my oh my, this forum is sooooooo polite! it is not a matter of "bagging" Vicki, it is just stating the obvious, to go blindly thinking that Micheal IS a risky programer, etc is simply not true...

We've confirmed Lynne Arriale Trio for Brisbane Powerhouse Feb 10 but at this point there's no prospect of a Sydney or Melbourne date for them.

Lynne Arriale would need a grand piano, which they don't have at lebowski's.
And unless the Perth Festival actually wants to subsidise a promoter/venue in melbourne, I expect they would want someone to pay a guaranteed fee to the band, plus local travel and accommodation costs & maybe a contribution to the international airfare.
