Just heard a bit of PG's new ballads record with Bernie McGann. Well, its all ballads but definitely not dull!!! If any one has the balls to call Bernie dull or boring Im going to get my computer geek friend to find out your server number, come round there and shove your computer down your dumb-arse, critical, thoughtless, simple-minded throat.
Oops sorry. No really, its me, nice guy. just had a moment. Listening to you guys makes me wonder what your output has been like this year. I imagine you've spent too much time bagging others on stupid forums, safe at home in front of your computer, cause you're not very nice, don't play very well, and therefor don't have any gigs to go to or friends to hang out with. Your comments are not only "dull & boring" but also rude and stupid. You probably can't even find anyone who wants to have a frendly chat down at the local. So you have to resort to this one sided crap-throwing game like the stupid monkeys you are.
As for mr GrBovsky. an Aria album with Katie & three of the countries greatest ever musicians, prime time TV ads, Warner release of album with JoLo & Branford still fresh, Tinklers new CD, new ballads CD with McGann on the way, 1800tickets sold to I Protest show at Hamer Hall, Touring with Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter & AAO, work with indiginous musicians in Arhnem Land, plus who knows how many film/TV/doco soundtracks. And all this in the past year.
Man, no wonder he doesn't care to spend time replying to you. He's probably way too busy & blissfully unaware of your existence on this earth, EVEN IF YOU DID USE YOUR REAL NAME!!!!!

As you for you CrustyOldFart, theres a lot of people in the jazz scene that find Miles Davis a bit modern for their taste. They tell me he was only famous cause he had a skill for putting good bands together, cos he sure "couldn't play the trumpet"!!!!!

whoa there nice guy...people do get excited on this forum sometimes, and all too often we see emotive posts demanding to know how anyone can have an opinion or response different from their own. 'Jazz' has always been a broad church, and I hope that we can have some sort of intelligent discussion. No-one has dissed Bernie McGann or Scott, as far as I am aware, I thought we were just having a discussion about music. As you point out, Paul is a very significant performer on the Australian scene. Is it not then appropriate that his music is discussed?

From my perspective, the music that has industry support in this country has become increasingly more corporate, and many of the more individual and creative voices have been marginalised, first in the media and then as a result in the general community. It is important that forums like this provide an opportunity for people to say "that record may be getting a lot of attention, but I don't like it". How else are we to create intelligent, considered work? As far as Paul is concerned, yes, he has supported and worked with some very individual and creative voices in Archie, Bernie and Scott, the AAO, music that I have personally enjoyed, and he has also produced music that I don't like, and I hope that I am always free to say that with impunity(!)

If these comments were made about Kylie Minogue, how would you react? "But her music is crap" I'm sure she works incredibly hard at it, and you cannot deny she has great skills in maintaining a career and reaching an audience. Do you defend the right to abuse her music, but not other peoples'?

I appreciated your spirited defence of the music you love - it's understandable, but can we try to raise the tone a little bit around here? I always appreciate Rob Burke's comments - even when he's pissed off he's still able to present his point with thoughtful clarity.
