Was just musing on the different things that people get into here, and thought a thread like this might be fun!
In no apparent order:
Pharoah Sanders @ Prince Of Wales, Melbourne, 2004 Clarion Fracture Zone, Bennett's Lane, about '95? Ted Vining Trio, Bennett's Lane, dont remember probably about 97, 98 Tim O'Dwyer solo, half bent festival 2004 Caboose, Bar Open, 2000?
I'll probably think up a different five tomorrow, but that'll do for now...

Pharoah was great - I want to see him again.
Sorry - going past the decade
Heaps of Australian bands- Jamie Fielding was a favorite to listen to.
Just a note of international gigs
Old and New Dreams - Dallas Brooks was great. Dewey Redman.
Freddie Hubbard - Prince of Wales - He was at his peak playing wise and ego wise - ask Martin Jackson.
Art Pepper - Prince of Wales - with George Cables - a couple of months before Art died - one of the most emotional performances I have ever witnessed.
Kenny Garrett - Paris - with K. Kirkland & Tain Watts- Kenny sounded like he had done 13 hours practice that day and 13 hours practice every day for about 25 years - freak!!
Chris Potter playing Giant Steps at Smoke in NY - ask Andrew Swan
Many others but it would be interesting the thoughts of others who witnessed the gigs in Melb.
Oh yeah - Joe Lo - Village Vanguard - quartet - George Maraz - John Hicks - Lewis Nash - from the first note it was on.

last night, wow! Chico Freeman Quartet at Wine banq, Gerard Masters, Jonathon Zwartz and Felix Bloxsom. An awesome quartet. I believe the rehearsal went on all day, that's how well they connected. Just some of the tunes they played : George Cables 'Helen's Song Don Pullen's Ah George We hardly Knew Ya. and a killer Resolution from Love Supreme, all took amazing solos but the drums - tenor thing by Felix and Chico was a highlight. That's enough to savour until next weekend without trying to think of what has been a great year so far, listener wise.
