Bali Jazz Festival
The very first Bali Jazz Festival is designed to be a dialogue forum and culture-sharing between participating elements who come from various countries around the globe, with the main objection on producing new creativities with universal references needed into the building of a nation. Unity and global brotherhood to sounding peace can also be quoted as a starting point of this festival, and that it becomes an independent medium that is distances away from political interference and inter-racial issues.
FROM BALI – SOUNDING PEACE THROUGH ECHOES OF BALI JAZZ FESTIVAL, 18-20 NOVEMBER 2005
BALI, FESTIVAL IN ITS TRUE ESSENTIAL
As big as Bali sounds to be an icon in the world’s tourism industry, has never been far apart from what the island’s contents are. Various arts and culture, amazingly beautiful nature, the people’s friendliness and innumerable tourist destinations are amongst Bali’s best. This is the genuine festival in its true sense, and it is happening every day in Bali. It is if this wealth in overflow hardly suffices, yet still need all the support with many thoughts on strategy and management so as to become an asset with a lengthy lifespan. With this regard it is invented various measures to create additional value to Bali. The planning of events on the island need to be listed as new fortune that supports Bali on its best. A celebration in the form of festivals on Bali invite potentials, as new assets where in realization is a consolidated version of many issues, mainly in art and culture, be it traditional or contemporary. Bali Arts Festival, Kuta Karnival, Festival Nusa Dua, Ubud Writers & Readers Festival and other festivals need government and society support to become a festival containing quality in their values. This would include in placing the orders within an annual calendar of events, so that one festival and the other are placed consecutively and orderly upon their organizations. When this comes to place, within one calendar year Bali holds itself a Festival Agenda that is enormously colorful and bears so deep a meaning that enables the government to produce a resume and distribute the required information to all stakeholders who requires all details. Upon successful creation of this Festival Agenda, Bali develops its hidden potentials aside of the existing assets it holds currently, so that the inflow of people to Bali does not merely depend on high season but ensures stability of the numbers throughout the calendar year. The main point of creating this Agenda is included within the birth of Bali Jazz Festival – where in future is projected to extend the high season lifespan on Bali – or in other words made to create another high season on a different quarter of the year. We extremely hope this idea would digest smoothly and will serve as an important reference for society contribution towards Bali’s development, where the government accommodated and facilitated various initiatives growing from the society, so as to lessen the government’s focused burdens that accumulated by the day. At the same token, this idea is aimed to inspire an incredible move other members of Bali society to come into a focus for packaging a better festival form.

Unity and global brotherhood to sounding peace can also be quoted as a starting point of this festival, and that it becomes an independent medium that is distances away from political interference and inter-racial issues. As a festival that is designed to be simultaneous and continuous, Bali Jazz Festival would in its rhythm place a space to every community in taking part and provide its contribution towards its perfection in future. Especially a major thought is given on the future Bali Jazz Festivals to be dedicated for development of education on music for the young generation Indonesians. When and if we speak about Jazz, its history derives from a movement that brings the spirit of existence to live. Let us all have a clear vision that Bali Jazz Festival not only is a form of musical stage that performs music through jazz, but it is an open arena to build a gigantic objective towards the written commitment of togetherness.
