Craunch: verb. To craunch (in Jazz) is to begin playing a solo just as someone else is about to start one, or to play a lounder solo when someone else has already started one, thus stealing it from them. variations include the standing craunch when a saxophone player is craunched when they have already stood up to solo, thus leaving them standing and looking studid. also: the flying craunch whereby the crauncher craunches the craunchee with a rapid and extended flurry of notes at high velocity. (note: the flying craunch is most commonly used by trumpet players, it being nearly impossible to commit a flying craunch on the trombone)
the collective nouns are:
a bastard of craunchers
a suffer of craunchees.

So, sorta the same as dropping-in in surfing parlance.
