He's right, especially to someone like me.
Jimmy, I wasn't happy with the first set at the time, but I think the action taken did help the second really take off. I gotta say that playing music of that nature with people of that level is very hard work. Not hard in the sense of making music but emotionally and physically very demanding. It fucks with my head and the fact that we don't get to do it anywhere near enough sometimes confuses me as to what I want to happen. My music in the past has tended to be of a more specific nature, we'd play tunes then improvise on the form, leading to next section etc. Now with this group, and in my trio too, we deconstrust a lot more. Its basically free but we play the material at hand, using the ideas presented as our language. To me I find this erea very challenging, its not form but not free, I'm still trying to grasp how it works really. So anyhow, I get pretty intense during these gigs and say alot of stuff. I deffinately didn't think it was dogshit.

Brisbane people love their jazz so much that Ken Edie has to work for the council chopping down trees to make a living! Since when does that reflect upon someone's talent? Ken can apply himself to anything he wants to - but he doesnt have to. Do you know him at all? Because if you did, youd understand why he chooses the path he treads. Yes we are a bit sour. Yes we dont know amazing music until it smacks us in the face. But if you deserve the accolades, you get it - in terms of respect, not the all mighty $$. If you make it in Brisbane, you can make it anywhere. Doesnt stop our lil jazz community from gushing with the PLUR to those who deserve it either. BTW: this event was incredible. Made me proud to know we had such fine musos comparable to Europe and the States let alone the other cities in good ole Australia.

The recording does sound good actually. Might be worth releasing with a bit of a remix. Funny thing is its the same tunes as our first live album but it sounds so so different. Ken is a legend, he is the only one who plays like that, a truely inspiring artist, carn the Ken, carn the Ken carn the Ken carn the Ken carn the Ken carn the Ken carn the Ken carn the Ken carn the Ken.
Hi ladylex, welcome, give ya sax player a big kiss!

What a rhythm test that would be. Ha, the thought of it is killing me.

Hi ladylex, welcome, give ya sax player a big kiss! Do you 'member him then Mr Tinkles? And stuff him - what about me? ? I put in a sly suggestion to Mr Edie asking if he just do a one man show. I think Grant Collins is doing a show in April.. Id love to see Ken do the same. He makes my head go nuts. I like it.
