Some comments about any gigs that people may have seen would be great. Did anyone see Belinda's gig last night?

Yes I heard Belinda's gig last night and it was very special.
You'll be able to catch Epic Whispers on ABC Live on Stage or download it to your pod cos they recorded it.
Some truly beautiful and strong feminine music. It was such a treat to be able to hear music like that, I was thinking how if it wasn't for small festivals like the MWIJF you would so rarely get to hear music like that performed live. We are very lucky to have been part of the audience.
For any who don't know: Belinda was commissioned by MWIJF to write some material for 3 voices, string quartet with piano, drums and bass (of course) but sadly the week before the gig her laptop got stolen with all the arrangements on it, so to get the gig happening she must have worked very hard. Bravo Belinda, I love your compositions!
Emma Gilmartin, Alison Wedding and Carlo Panunzo on voice too.
Virna Sanzone from Sydney was on first with her quartet, she has a strong voice, her performance was 90 percent R & B and only 10 per cent jazz. But the audience gave her a very warm reception. I thought she was good and her band was good too but I would rather hear more jazz than R & B. Virna brought Hamish with her on drums. I was thinking of that comment in the SMH about Aussie drummers last night as both Hamish and Ronny Ferella who played with Belinda, completely contradicted that statement on Australian drummers!
Well done to the MWIJF team, the musicians, Bennetts staff and all the funding bodies. We loved it. More please.
