yeh, really love the albums but can't get the names right.
Best recording ever was the fart tape I did when I first moved out of home. It had variety, form, self expression and heaps of emotion, better than most shit I've ever heard. That is apart from Transition and Sun-ship.

The SHAGGS! they were so cool! All sisters I recall (haven't heard them for twenty years).
While we are on the subject some of my favourite strange recordings are anything by: Portsmouth Symphonia (I was lucky enough to see them live once) Florence Foster Jenkins (and of course) Shooby Taylor.

Don't know about the greatest of all time but have you heard ' Cannonball Aderley's Fiddler on the Roof ' selections from the hit broadway show. Its his quintet of Nat, Bobby T, Joe Z, Sam J, & Louis H. plus Charles Lloyd for good measure, found it while flicking through my local council music library.

yep. fiddler on the roof. that is a good album. I think it avoids cheesy by just a hair though.
and yes florence foster jenkins. I know she would agree when I say that she was a genius of the highest calibre.

Out to lunch; Dolphy. Now that has to be a seriously strong contender, imagine that band live. There is so much happening yet the music is not cluttered with filler, absolute best Freddie and Tony Williams plays so free. Dolphy is at his inimitable best and Richard Davis and Bobby Hutcherson are continually generating ideas. One thing I particularly love about this album is the harmonic space, without piano and with Bobby's spacious and obtuse comping there is so much room for everyone to create.
