I know this is a most unusual request, but I'm desperately seeking, yes that's right folks, a banjo player.
The short version is: there's a three month gig in Otsu, Japan playing trad on a river boat, starting in March. It is with a singer and a trumpeter. Fares and accommodation are paid for, on top of the daily wage. It's only 4 half hour sets a day, ending before 7 pm each day, 6 days a week.
If you play the banjo, or know someone who does, and might be interested, please email me at mac.mim@iinet.net.au
We are wanting to sign the contracts by the end of the week. Tis good money!

Just goes to show, there's no such thing as a free trip to Japan (or anywhere, it seems !)

I don't know what eltham is. I only moved to Melbourne last week, so my contacts are fairly limited. All the banjo players in Adelaide seem to be expecting children or have just had them.
If anybody can tell me somewhere I might be able to find banjo players, even just enough of them to poke a stick at, that would be a great help.

That is a great gig - you get to play 'oh when the saints' around 2000 times in three months...
Sugoi desu ne!
