It's wikipedia!!!!!!! You know how it operates! Don't just whinge, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Edit the thing! That's what you're SUPPOSED to do on wikipedia. "Tut tut tut" everyone goes...... about an INTERACTIVE encyclopaedia!!!!!! Sometimes I despair.......you're handed the keys to the city but no guts to use them.

Okay, how about this? This doesn't seem particularly interactive to me, and makes me oh so mad. www.wisegeek.com/what-is-jazz.htm?referrer=adwords_campaign=jazz_ad=022781&_search_kw=about%20jazzI started writing a really long winded complaint email, breaking the thing down point by point, telling them exactly what was wrong with almost every statement in this "Straightforward guide to jazz", but there was so much wrong with it I lost the stamina to finish it. The problem with this is, it comes up on the right side of your screen when you google jazz. So some poor unsuspecting child with a school assignment will google jazz and then use this as a resource! Argh!

Fair call, Mark, but the thought of traversing the gap between that article and where we're at now is overwhelming!

also fair call
perhaps someone can edit it to list in point form what should be included, others could do some fleshing out on select points. Group effort, you know..

ok fair point - who wants to start the ball rolling? (we could be here for a while...) Perhaps John Clare could be convinced to contribute a extraordinarily abriged version of Bodgie Dada??

You know, this is an excellent Idea.
An overview of the scene, with inclusions of some of the stuff happening now, then links to the most important players of the last couple of decades so that they've got their own entry. The Barnards, Smacka Fitzgibbon, John Sangster, Mark Simmonds, Pyramid etc. etc. (I know I'm missing quite a few here) and maybe even one for that house party that sangster talks about in his book. Maybe a bit of talk about how the Con and the College were founded. I dunno, anything else?
Group effort.
