Obsessions are thoughts, images, or impulses that occur over and over again and feel out of your control (just like that annoying thing that person said who wrote _____ in thread on OJF). The person does not want to have these ideas, finds them disturbing and intrusive, and usually recognizes that they don't really make sense. People with OCD may obsess excessively about what other musicians think of them, jazz club owners who are stingy, who is getting laid by ____, Albert Dadon, Wangaratta, who the fuck is Cartman/Ironguts, or dirt and germs (same thing) and be obsessed with the idea that they are more important than everyone else. Indeed it is possible that they may believe that they are not as important as everyone else. They may fret that they may contaminate others. They may have obsessive fears of having inadvertently played out of time or hit the wrong note, several years ago at a gig that, by now, everyone else has forgotten,. They may worry that they may harm someone else (perhaps while pulling the car out of the driveway), even though they usually know this is not realistic. Obsessions are accompanied by uncomfortable feelings, such as fear, disgust, doubt, or a sensation that things have to be done in a way that is "just so." One newly recognised OCD is a compulsion to visit internet forums several times a day to see what others have said in response to your own post.

don't you hate it when people trivialise painful conditions as a means of proving a non-point...

don't you hate it when people trivialise painful conditions as a means of proving a non-point... Actually, I'm not sure I would agree that it is that trivial 'Jung'. I understand that many people are now developing OCD problems with IT, checking their bank accounts online, text messages and emails etc. Interesting that the rate of young people taking up smoking in Australia has declined by almost 50 percent since SMS became popular and somewhat ironic that mobile phones are now accused of being carcinogenic. I love your work, by the way!
