ok I know I've asked this question before, but I'd actually love to know what is happening outside the Melbourne and Sydney CBDs. There must be people on this forum doing great work that the big smokes never hear about! Melbourne in particular is heavily populated by musicians from WA, SA, Tas, and if these scenes are exporting so much talent there must be SOMETHING going on 'back home'. Is there anybody out there? ps i'd like to say thanks in advance to all the flamers saying 'there's nothing, that's why they've all left town in the first place'

In SA there is COMA, (Creative Original Music Adelaide) affiliated with Sydney's Jazzgroove. They put on fortnightly gigs aat the Wheatsheaf Hotel, Thebarton, encouraging local musicians to create original music and also bringing in interstate acts, both things being rare before COMA started.
coma.net.au
There is a great trio, the members of which are involved with COMA, called Triptych who have just released their fantastic self-titled debut album of orginal music. Anyone who attended Wangaratta Jazz Fest may have seen their shows or seen them play as the house band at the Saturday night jam. I recommend people check them out.

I'll answer my own question...
Florida (old style) Macromedia Flash (file extension) Flash Files (file extension) Front Line Assembly (band) Fair Labor Association Full Load Amps (name plate data on electric motors) Finance and Leasing Association (banking) Fliegerabwehr (German: anti aircraft) Florida Library Association French Language Arts Flight Article Football Licensing Authority (UK) Future Large Aircraft (European Tactical Air Transport Concept) Florida Lighthouse Association Front-Line Ambulance Future Leaders of America, Inc. (California-based Latino youth leadership development program) Four Letter Abbreviation FederaciĆ³n Libertaria Argentina (Argentinian Libertarian Federation)
Or perhaps.... Four Letter Acronym?

Inquisitive happy, here's what's happening in the Illawarra, IIMA and the W,gong Conservatorium of Music present music once a month either at the Unibar in the University of Wollongong or at the cafe du auditorium in the grounds of the Botanical gardens next to the historic Glennifer Brae manor house. Wonderfully warm intimate gigs. The conservatorium runs a very succesfull jazz studies course under the directorship of trumpeter Eric Dunan. In fact local drummer Sam Cairns has just made it into the jazz studies course at the Sydney Conservatorium. Last gig was Alister Spence with bassist Mike Majkowsk and drummer Alan Hicks (currently studying at Pattersons College, New Jersey). plus the Nick Southcott trio. Some gigs coming up later this year include Alex Musso trio, Farfinkel, Puglowski residency at the con, Mike Nock Trio, Andrew Robson trio, Ben Winkelman trio, Andy Sugg plus negotiations with the Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra, and Jeremy Borthwicks Exposed Bone. Hope that satisfies your curiosity happy. PS hello simple mind how are you.
