The West End Composers Collective CD "Downstream" is the featured
album on "The Planet" hosted by Doug Spencer, this Thursday 18th of March on ABC Radio National 106.1FM 3.00pm - repeated at 11.00pm

“Downstream” is a jazz-leaning tentet album which would hold up very well, had it come from New York. West End Composers' Collective - the ten-piece ensemble responsible for this set of new, original songs & tunes, was founded in Brisbane in January last year by the CD’s primary composer-arranger, Laura Kahle and its pianist Steve Newcomb. This band can certainly motor along when required, but this is definitely not a set of “blaring” or “see how & fast we can go” music – it’s rich & subtle, beautifully voiced, well-recorded & also blessed with a fine, distinctive vocalist in Kristin Berardi.
