Every now and then, as I am spending time at my other online jazz hangouts (Jazz Corner, AAJ, Organissimo) I become envious that my fellow board members in the northern hemispehere are occasionally organising casual "get togethers" before a gig in NY, Chicago, San Francisco, London, Wherever. But then last I thought, "Hell - we can do that!" What do you folkses say? Let's make it happen during the forthcoming MIJF. An obvious choice would be a mid-week night in Chinatown (plenty of scope for cheap and plentiful food) followed by the show at Bennetts Lane. Eating/drinking somewhere near the Malvern Town Hall is also a possibility, although I expect those shows will start around 8pm, making the timing a bit tight (do ya like the Booker T and the MGs reference there or what!?). COME ON!

Fuggit, I like me for company. After all, as an astute observer has recently pointed out, I have been running a "scintillating" discourse with me, myself and eye on the "what are you listening to?" thread ...

I'll try and find one - don't hold your breath. Why don't you come and have Chinese Dumplings at Sea Bay in Pitt Street (they don't take credit cards)?

Do they use MSG? The old Dumpling King (which has a new name) near Malvern town hall makes their own, they don't use MSG and the service is first class.
OK Mark if Kenny, Belinda Chan, GB PK etc. and I get to Sydney are you buying?

I'll buy you dinner in Sydney any time Vicki. Kenny too. And I'll even withstand with graciousness the inevitable patronising comments about Sydney restaurants not being up to Melbourne standards

I dunno you do have Matt Moran and Kylie Kwong so things can't be all bad up there.
