Flower Drum - yes please!
Stalactites - too many musicians with terrible table manners, plus I once found a pube in my cafe latte there. But I still go there! the service is bloody crap too but it is a Melbourne oldie and cheapie.
What about Ladro or Jacques Reymond or Pause? (Something there for every budget).

There was a wee gathering round the table of OJFers at Bennetts Lane tonight for the premier (I think), peformance of Gonebanda, the new 4 piece with Nick, Ronny, Howard and Gianni exploring their roots (no pun intended) Howard looks great wearing his sousaphone, whoah that is a big instrument. Is this a first for Bennett's?
Hey Mark were your ears burning last night? ;D
So where are we eating and when Kenny? You can book the table: Tuesday nights I have a class until 9pm so any other night is good for me.

Hey what a killer show - only in Melbourne would you hear Italian inspiration put to such memorable, beautiful use. Fabulous.
Nice to meet you Vicki after numerous online encounters.
As it's my first day back at work, I'm in for a couple of hellish days. Later in the week, though, I'll scope out an appropriate Bennetts gig for us to base a cheap feed around.

it was a great gig wasn't it? Gianni actually had me fooled that it was CD launch too, d'oh! Loved the multi media effect, very state of the art!
Green beans $2.00 a kilo! Cheaper than Prahran Market!

Three possibilities -
Wednesday May 12 (Niko Schauble & Frank Gibson at Bennetts Lane). Lots of drummer jokes ...
Thursday May 13 (Dale Barlow & Ball-Haywood-Browne)
Friday May 14 (Aaron Choulai & Tim Ries)

Is this an open invite?

Yes.
However, as family reasons make the rest of the festival pretty much a no-go area for me, I must sadly relinquish any responsibility for this function. I may make it to a few more gigs, but it will be hit and miss and spontaneous and with a toddler in tow. Kenny
