Come along on Sunday to see Andy in concert. Solo first then with Dave Beck, Chriss Becker, Julien Wilson, sexy little Stevie Mags and little old me. Should be fun, see you there.

vicki- if you read a bit further than the first fewwords you'll notice he now lives and works in the US, I'm pretty sure that means he's based there and therefore deserves a (USA) next to his name.
The sameappliesto Barney when he does a gig at Bennetts, he live+ works in the US, and while he may be an aussie by birth, doesn't mean he's not basedout of the US.

imho Vicki, I think (hope) we're past the days when most people did think that overseas = better.
But it IS a useful marketing tool, because if punters see that an act is in town from USA/Iceland/wherever, they're more likely to go to that gig because it's a limited opportunity to catch that band.

I once had a gig in Holland where the promoter had forgotten my name and instead of finding it out billed me as ' Victor Clarke from the USA', not sure if any more people went but it was funny. Must say it really doesn't matter in the end either, tis the music people will remember.

I agree it's pretty nonsenical to advertise where people are based, but for some odd reason people like to turn up and see someone who is only here for a limited time.
Did you enjoy the gig?

for some odd reason people like to turn up and see someone who is only here for a limited time. And you don't have to be from overseas to receive that honour at Bennetts Lane.

ha ha tim.
It is exciting to see people who are from other countries play their music here. that is why I would go. Certainly doesn't mean I'm going to like it. God damn.
In a festival situation it's also a good idea to put where people are from because punters are actually interested in that information right?
