Being from the U.S., I am very picky about my burgers. I agree Danny's is great, but if you are ever in the city, the burgers at Hard Rock Cafe are amazing. They are a bit pricey, but you truly get "Amercan" sized portions there, and the soft drinks are "bottomless" (free refills). ;D

Mark - serious question - does food stuff fall within the new parameters?

The culinary arts are an artform. On topic is jazz, other musical forms, other artforms and their social settings. Go for it!

I don't know that I'd pay $12 for a burger unless it was maybe served as a "gourmet" burger at a cafe or something, maybe with a decent salad and chips included. Plenty of good burgers around for less though, that aren't greasy $5 jobs. There's a good little place on Lygon St in Brunswick near Weston St, I thinks it's called Fish Bone or something like that. I've only been there a couple of times, but they're always good, and the ingredients are fresh. So, coming back to the initial question re. beetroot and freshness, I believe that the quality of a burger is directly related to the freshness of ingredients, but I hate beetroot, so either way the burger would be screwed!
