Just letting you all know Bill Frisell is bloody marvellous.
Although we left the club at least $200 lighter (and that was only with 2 drinks a piece) we had an amazing night.
Bill was using his loops and delay to masterful effect, creating amazing textures from which solid lines would spring after 10 or so minutes. He is also very playful in his playing, using an element of humor that was refreshing.
Brian Blade on drums was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. He is one high-class mofo -- I have never heard such a set of finely tuned drums -- when he did his first solo, I swear it was almost melodic and his kick drum has a little moan to it.
The hammond guy was also marvy, and looked a lot like Carl Panuzzo!
Anyways, just wanted to share. I just bought Richter 858 off i-tunes and have been highly digging it.
Now, all blue note needs to do is drop the prices and get some decent singers over here!
